May 6–12 is National Nurses Week! This year’s theme is “Nurses: Inspire, Influence, Innovate.” To celebrate, we are recognizing six nurses, nominated by the Sunrise Care team, who demonstrate these virtues in our communities every day.
Goldie Cotton is a nurse at Sunrise on Clayton, MO, and she’s been with Sunrise for nine years! Goldie has been selected as a nurse who influences—has an effect on the character, behavior, or development of others.
Goldie is a natural leader who is respected by her team. She helps influence other team members to stay true to Sunrise’s mission and always keep residents’ best interests in mind. She never hesitates to train, assist, or answer the questions of any care manager who might need her help.
“We send other nurses in the area to train with her so that she can instill her influence and positive character onto them,” says Kim Bracken, regional director of Resident Care. “She develops her team with an ease.”
Goldie consistently goes above and beyond what is expected when caring for residents. But she never expects recognition for her efforts—she simply does it because she loves her residents.
“Goldie is always patient, kind and helpful,” says Michele Murphy, executive director, Sunrise on Clayton. “She is Sunrise! We are so proud of her and ever grateful that she is part of our community!”
The entire Sunrise family is grateful for the tireless dedication and influential spirit of nurses like Goldie. Thanks for all that you do! Meet the rest of our 2018 Nurses Week winners on The Sunrise Blog.
