Bodybuilding in Pakistan – vpro Metropolis

The Pakistani Haroon has a dream. Haroon wants to become the bodybuilding champion of Pakistan, preferably even of the world. He uses stones for weightlifting and puts children on his shoulders while doing push ups. His family doesn’t really agree with his hobby, they worry more about making ends meet.

vpro Metropolis was a video project by Dutch broadcast organisation vpro, that ran from 2008 to 2015. Metropolis is made by a global collective of young filmmakers and TV producers, reporting on remarkable stories from their own country/city. We made a trip around the globe on one single issue: from local beauty ideals to Elvis impersonators, to what’s it like being gay, or an outcast or a dog in different cultures.

  1. Hello everyone!
    We have news about Haroon!
He doesn't know de whey (! 😀 ) but he is an inspirational bodybuilder from Pakistan.
You have asked for news about him, and we got some:
Haroon now works as a helper in a truck which carries wood from Haroon's hometown to other cities. He is happy with his job: he likes to carry the heavy wood, because it's good for his muscles. If he sees a gym while he does the deliveries, he jumps out of the truck and goes to work out for half an hour.

  2. This man is poor as hell but he still works to improve his body with what he has at his disposal. Meanwhile, lazy fat Americans live in a first world country and make endless excuses for their unhealthiness. Props to him.

  3. the guy is pretty selfish, but I feel for him. He don’t wanna do the same shit for the rest of his life. respect the hustle. but he probably thinks mike o’hearn is a natty. he will never get a good physique without roids
