At first glance, this cayenne pepper detox tea might not look very appetizing, but trust me – this surprising combo of ingredients is satisfyingly good for your mind, body, and soul.

This spicy cayenne pepper tea is the best drink for a morning kickstart. Try this!

If you don’t already use cayenne pepper when cooking or spicing up your foods, I highly recommend you start. Cayenne is one of those healing ingredients that have been used since prehistoric times because of its amazing properties for your gut, heart, and more.

But don’t confuse cayenne with paprika. I made that mistake before I understood the difference.

Here’s what separates the two: cayenne is made from a variety of dried and ground peppers, and has more heat. Meanwhile, paprika is made primarily from dried and ground bell peppers, and adds more color and sweetness, rather than heat.

Cayenne is more expensive than paprika, and sometimes merchants sell low-quality products that are not even made out of peppers.

Morning Kickstart

The best time of day to drink this cayenne pepper tea with turmeric is first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach.

For the ultimate detoxing effects, drink this for 1 to 2 weeks to help your body flush the toxins from your body. This tea also can help your body to adjust to those substances being eliminated.

Don’t be surprised if you suffer from headaches or feeling a bit more tired than usual in the first couple of days – that’s just your body reacting to the toxin removal process, along with the stimulation (and strengthening) of your immune system.

No worries – this feeling will pass and then you’ll start feeling refreshed and renewed.

Cayenne Pepper Detox Tea – The Ingredients

Cayenne Pepper

Apart from being good for your gut and heart, cayenne offers other healing benefits.

It helps digestion, upset stomach or stomach pains, diarrhea, cramps, blood circulation, blood clotting, high cholesterol, toothache, seasickness, fever, headaches and migraines (1). Its powerful antioxidants come from its content of vitamins C, B6 and E, potassium, manganese and flavonoids.

In terms of detoxing, cayenne pepper helps your digestive system to flush out bacteria and toxins from your body, as well as boosting your metabolism.

Lemon Juice

When you combine cayenne pepper with lemon juice and maple syrup, magic happens.

You will not just be boosting your metabolism, but giving it a proper jump start with enough calories, carbohydrates and energy to get you through the day.

The antioxidants in the lemon juice are known to help flush out toxins from your system (2). Meanwhile, the natural sweetness of the maple syrup give you that extra little kick of energy.

The Healing Extras

Turmeric powder

Turmeric is a powerful liver detoxifier and its anti-inflammatory properties also work wonders (3). I try to use organic whenever it’s possible, and this organic turmeric powder is never missing from my pantry.

Coconut oil

The medium-chain fatty acids in the coconut oil (always use a virgin variety) go straight to your liver for energy, rather than being stored in your body, and they play an important role in flushing out toxins (4).

Ginger on its own has endless health benefits, but even more so when added to this detox tea, particularly for gastrointestinal health and management (5).

I use grated ginger for a strong flavor, but when I don’t have the time, I simply add ground ginger powder that works the same magic.

Try this tea first thing in the morning for two weeks and feel the results.
