I do not think I have ever seen gluten free beer in grocery stores.  I may need to look a little harder.  I was pretty sure though that I would find some gluten free beer at my local BINNY’S store.  I actually had something like 10 choices.  I consulted the sommelier – because I do not know what you call the guy at the liquor store that knows a lot about beer, and specifically, gluten free beer.  I ended up with a lager from the OMISSION BREWING COMPANY.  Nothing missing here but the gluten.

I make many complicated recipes with lots of steps.  Not sure I can make this recipe look too complicated.  I started by charring the turkey brats in a Dutch oven.  As a quick aside, these brats had been in my freezer a little while following a trip a few months back to GENE’S SAUSAGE SHOP.  One other recipe I made using sausages from Gene’s was this tasty GREEN CURRY RECIPE. I removed the brats from the Dutch oven and began caramelizing my onions and green peppers.  I want the vegetables to pick up the flavor left in the pot from the sausages.  I added some spices to the veggies, and once softened, removed them from the pot.

Next, I put the sausages back into the pot and added a couple of bottles of the gluten free beer and poached the sausages for a while.  The dish assembled easily and quickly by a quick toast on the gluten free bun stuffed with the gluten free beer braised brats smothered with plenty of green peppers and onions.
