healthy pressure cooker chicken biriyani, low calorie diet chicken biriyani in pressure cooker. weight loss chicken biriyani with brown rice is a healthy guilt free cheat meal for christmas. this skinny weight loss chicken biriyani is a one pot meal, is diabetic diet friendly and is made with just 1 1/2 tbsp of desi ghee and even a bachelor or a beginner or a novice cook can make this easily with my instructions. cooking brown rice is made easy in this video and this low calorie biriyani can also be included as a weekend cheat meal in your weight loss journey. weight loss and weight management is all about healthier food choices and I am sure this healthy biriyani will satisfy your cravings especially in the weekend or during festive seasons. the one pot meal takes just under 30 mins to make.
Ingredients:
brown basmati rice: 1 1/2 cups
water: 3 3/4 cups
chicken: 350 gms

1 1/2 inch ginger
7 shallots/small onions
1/2 lemon
2 onions, sliced
1 1/2 pods garlic
5-7 green chilies
2 tomatoes, chopped
a handful of coriander leaves
mint leaves (optional)

cardamon: 5, lightly crushed
2 sticks of cinnamon
5-6 cloves
1/2 tsp saunf
1/4 tsp black peppercorns
1 black cardamon (optional)
1/2 of a mace
a small piece of nutmeg

Desi ghee: 1 1/2 tbsp
7 cashewnuts
1 tbsp raisins
2 1/2 tsp pink himalayan salt or as needed
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
2 tbsp homemade curd
1 tbsp water to deglaze the pan
1 tbsp saffron milk (add a fat pinch of saffron to the milk)
Some extra coriander leaves to garnish

Soak brown rice in water and keep aside
Make green masala: grind ginger, garlic, shallots, green chilies, coriander leaves coarsely and keep aside
Heat 4 litre pressure cooker with 1 1/2 tbsp desi ghee, add in the whole spices and mix well.
Reduce the flame to the lowest and add in the sliced onion and half of the salt. mix well and saute the onion.
Once the onions are light brown add in the ground green masala and saute it but keep stirring it on and off so that it is not sticking to the pan.
Meanwhile, wash and rinse the brown rice and then keep it on a strainer. Add in the chopped tomato and 1 tbsp water to deglaze the pan. mix well. Cover and cook the tomato and then add in 2 tbsp curd and mix well.
Add in the chicken pieces and mix well and allow it lightly roast for 5 mins. Add in 3 3/4 cups of water and allow it to boil. Once it boils and in the strained brown rice and check salt….you can add more salt if needed.
Cover the cooker and once steam comes out of the hob, put the flame on the lowest for 10 mins (do not keep the weight).
After 10 mins switch off the flame and keep it untouched for 15 mins. And after 15 mins open the cooker and your healthy guilt free chicken biriyani is ready to serve.
Serve it with curd raita and roasted pappad.

I love all your recipes and this is perfect chicken pulao … just wanted to correct the verbiage though… Biryani is a recipe where rice and meat are partially cooked separately and are layered and are allowed to cook together under Dum with no additional added water while Pulao is the recipe where meat is cooked a bit first and perfect amount of water is added that supports proper cooking of both meat and rice… In that sense this comes under guilt free chicken pulao … 🙂 anyways kudos to you for bringing out creative recipes onto the wider Audience… it is really nice of you sharing traditional recipes in your family… keep up the good work

  4. Madam please guide for choosing rice out of red rice,boiled rice (used by mostly Bengali),brown rice .I know brown rice have come carb but I think the other options are also good (red color rice ,which u have used in ur recipe).so that it will be affordable.
