Hip Opening Yoga Flow – Moderate Level: Breathe Ease & Space into Your Emotional Seat

Our hips do so much work for us all day every day, it’s no wonder we experience their opening as an emotionally wrought unfolding. This class is a safe, open-level Vinyasa flow designed to bring responsible heat into the hips before exploring their full range of motion. Some yoga experience is helpful. Prop suggestions and modifications are offered.

We begin with an intention and seated Ujjayi breathing before we move into hip-warming and ultimately hip-opening sequences. Our standing poses call for work in the supporting structures of our hips, from the hip flexors to the external rotators to the glutes to the adductors. When the body is sufficiently warm, we move into powerful but sweet seated shapes that get into every nook and cranny of the hips! In the latter half, emphasis is on opening the outer and inner hips in a way that feels deep but restorative.

This class is great for athletes and anyone looking to feel more comfort in Lotus position.

  1. Hi, I'm 15 and have terrible posture. It's very noticeable and I feel like the hump back of Notre Dame my back has been like this for about 2 years. I started to get a terrible posture when I just turned 14, I started to notice it when I started playing a ton of video games ( tinyurl.com/y3osmws8 ) and I regret every bit of it. I would sit in a four legged chair in front of my TV leaning forward and now I feel like I will be like this forever! I need help. I ask my parents if I can go to a chiropractor but we just can't afford it. I don't in w what to do now. and to make it even worse I gained a ton of weight. hi weighed 120 pounds at age 14 and now at age 15 weighing 170. I just don't know what to do anymore… video games ruin lives.

  2. Thank you very much. I am just starting the piano after playing the guitar for 40 years. ( 7wow.cc/4l0u ) My question is 'do any of these tips change if you use a digital piano?' I love the way you can conduct energy from your whole body into the piano. But I don't know whether it would work for the digital piano. I bought a Korg Kronos. I do not have access to a grand piano so I will begin my piano journey on the Kronos. What do you think?
