  1. Honestly do not interlock your fingers. If you over-balance backwards you simply roll out of it, but your head and body weight compresses into your locked fingers and you'll either end up with badly bruised fingers, dislocated or broken fingers. Over-lap your fingers/hands one behind the other.

  2. This technique is fine if you have great pike flexibility. My tight hamstrings prevent me from getting much past 90 degrees, even on my toes, so the physics don't work. Although not as elegant and "pure" as this, the only way I can get into headstand is with bent knees.

  3. Hair up or not, Kino is one of the most successful teachers in the yoga industry. When has hair ever hindered her amazing ability to guide those looking to learn in a relative and comprehensible manner? My opinion? She's one of the best ashtanga yoga instructors out there.
