Ryan Cos., Great Lakes Management Announce Minnesota Project

Ryan Companies US and Great Lakes Management are collaborating on the development of a new senior living community in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

The project (pictured above) will include 138 units of independent living, assisted living and memory care. Amenities include multiple dining venues, a bistro, club room, library, activities room, salon, a wellness area with fitness facilities and medical consultation rooms and a gathering space for performances or events.

Great Lakes Management, which has managed multifamily and senior housing projects for three decades, will operate the property.

The St. Cloud city council approved the to-be-named senior living community on July 9. If all goes according to plan, the community will open in 2020.

Silverado to Celebrate Groundbreaking of California Community

Silverado on July 31 is scheduled to hold an event celebrating the start of construction for a memory care community in Brea, California.

The 70-unit community will include design elements such as skylights and sunrooms along with amenities like a coffeehouse-style bistro, beauty salon, country store, and spa. Outside, residents will be able to use an outdoor courtyard with covered patios and walkways.

Silverado is working with Douglas Pancake Architects and Snyder Langston on the community, which is expected to open in the summer of 2019.

Buckner Retirement Services Project Tops Out in Dallas

Ventana by Buckner, a $140 million high-rise community in Dallas, recently held a “topping out” ceremony that included raising of a ceremonial beam and tree to the top of the project’s north tower.

The two-tower community will eventually house 189 independent living apartments, including one-, two- and three-bedroom options. Ventana will also include assisted living, nursing care, memory care and rehabilitation services. Amenities include underground parking, multiple dining venues, common areas, wellness and fitness centers, a heated indoor pool, salon and spa, movie theater, rooftop garden and patios.

General contractor Whiting-Turner first began construction on the project last year. Ventana was designed by David Dillard and his firm, D2 Architecture. The community is currently slated to welcome its first residents in the middle of next year.

Aegis Opens Italy-Inspired Community in Seattle

Aegis Living has opened a community “infused with Italian hospitality” in Seattle.

The community, Aegis at Ravenna, has 82 apartment-style units with assisted living and memory care options. Aegis at Ravenna comes with amenities such as a wine cave, a wood-fired pizza oven and a full-size gondola located within an outdoor courtyard. Other perks for residents include music therapy, art classes and trips to Seattle Mariners baseball games.

Memory Care Community Opens in Florida

CERTUS Senior Living has opened a memory care community in Mt. Dora, Florida.

The 64-bed, single-occupancy memory care community offers amenities such as a bistro, theater, therapeutic courtyard, fitness center, beauty salon and spa.

The provider also has three other communities in the works in Orange City, Longwood, and Waterford Lakes, Florida, and nine other sites slated for future development.

Affordable Senior Housing Community Opens in Washington

Sustainable Housing for the Ageless Generation (SHAG) and the City of Tukwila, Washington, recently celebrated the opening of a 193-apartment community in Tukwila, Washington.

The community, Tukwila Village, comes alongside amenities that include a community center, a coffee shop, a plaza with art and a new public library.

This is the first of several development phases for the project. Upon its completion, the community will also have a mini-food hall and small business incubator and a total of 398 apartments.

— Local officials in Hanover, New Hampshire, have OKed a plan to build a 24-unit apartment for seniors.

— A mixed-income senior housing development with 126 units could open in Gladstone, Michigan.

— A new assisted living project with 136 units is coming together in Mishawaka, Indiana.

— Plans for a four-story, 125-unit assisted living community are moving forward in River Forest, Illinois.

— A senior living community in Rochester, New York, is moving forward with plans to modernize.

— A Catholic charity has proposed building a 165-unit senior housing community in Kahului, Hawaii.

— Santa Maria, California, could get a new senior housing community with 30 units.

— More living spaces for seniors could one day arrive in Middletown, Rhode Island, in the form of a municipal senior housing project.

— Ecumen is planning to open a new senior living co-op in Stillwater, Minnesota.

— A former elementary school in Detroit is set to be converted into a 32-unit senior housing cooperative.

In progress

— An assisted living community is on track to open in Evansville, Indiana, this fall.

Complete

— A senior living community in Cleveland is slated to officially open a new assisted living building on Aug. 5.

— A new memory care community has opened in Huntley, Illinois.
