And just like that, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia draws to a close for another year. Although many of you are probably glad to see the last of that brick wall backdrop flooding your feeds, the final day did kick off with farshun of a different kind…

Farshun that makes it acceptable to wear sneakers with everything, farshun that prioritises comfort, farshun that has made trackies great again and farshun that will fight to the death to ensure yoga pants are recognised as a socially-acceptable item of clothing outside of the studio.

Here’s a snapshot of the MBFWA18 Active Show and what you can look forward to in the coming months:

Calling all spirit sistas, this one’s for you! The LA-based label has embraced the spiritual shift from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius as the inspiration behind their latest drop, 11:11 Aquarius. Warm, earthy hues dominated the runway, complimented by rich copper, gold and silver metallics and mineral-inspired accents of foiled prints.

Rachael Finch is all about helping women feel happy, healthy and strong—and same rule applies when it comes to the concept and design of her much-loved activewear line. Perfect for softer workout styles and self-care sessions including light cardio, yoga, meditation and stretching, it utilises luxe fabrics that not only look good but feel great on the body. An expansion of the original pastel colour palette, this season we will be seeing more feminine prints come out to play.

Can’t tell you how surreal this is! Our first Fashion Week @bodbyrachaelfinch 🌑🌙

If ‘black, white, grey, repeat’ constitutes your wardrobe, may we suggest you put Jasmine Alexa on your radar? The Aussie activewear brand is all about sleek lines, monochrome details and versatile pieces that you can mix and match both in the gym and on the street. The collection is made up of sleek basics with just the right amount of attitude. Think; athletic stripes, criss-cross straps, rattan weaves and PVC. Basically a minimalist’s dream.

Reworking their signature athleisure style we all know and love, expect to see a whole lot more statement branding and bright, bold colourways. They’re splashed against oversized spray jackets, baggy track pants, snapbacks, retro hoodies and of course—an endless supply of tees for the multitasking man (and you when you raid his wardrobe).
