Shoe Preview: ASICS Gel-Kayano 25

The ASICS Gel-Kayano line has been around for years. The current iteration, the Gel-Kayano 24, is a popular model, a high-cushioned stability shoe, designed for runners who need structure and comfort for long miles. But the soon-to-be-released Gel-Kayano 25 comes with some significant upgrades.

Where it differs from its predecessor is in the midsole cushioning and in the upper. While the Gel-Kayano 24 used FlyteFoam cushioning, the Gel-Kayano 25 uses FlyteFoam Lyte – a foam that’s more durable and provides runners with even more stability. Yet it’s still incredibly light – in fact, it’s 55 percent lighter than industry standard EVA. The cushioning also comprises FlyteFoam Propel technologies, designed to provide enhanced responsiveness in toe-off.

Elsewhere the Gel-Kayano 25’s new two-layer jacquered mesh upper offers improved flexibility, better breathability and a premium fit.

The shoe looks to be an excellent choice for runners who overpronate and require a structured, well-cushioned shoe for long distances.

From 1 June 2018, the shoe will be available globally at ASICS retail and online stores.
