  2. I don't really understand why wannabe "ooh look at me I'm anti, I don't like big companies, fight the power!" 4% critics like you waste your time with all of this complaining because it clearly doesn't make an impact. My advice would be stop moaning and take accountability for loosing to people in different shoes than you

  3. You are a little bit hipocrit, you use a Adidas Boston with boost technology, what do you thing the boost in Adidas mean? There are a lot of reviews about this 4% and everyone that I see and I see a few, say this is a very good shoe, but with a lot of problems. Every athlete I see say that is not true, the shoe doesn't give you 4% of nothing if you are not train to do it. What Nike do for the marathon and the running world was a bless. I respect this video if you buy the shoe run a marathon and beat your record in 4%, with the same training plan.

  4. Running with better economy makes you come back to training much better and less sore. Also, after races, you can come back to running quicker. I’m all for anything that can increase training and recovery bc it prevents or delays injuries. Technology is also consuming nutrition that’s easy on the stomach. Is it also cheating to consume food that is efficient and easy on the stomach during long distance races versus to someone who eats regular meals or orange juice only during races? Using advanced nutrition is technology, would you deny someone of that? The legends like Pre, he used the new Nike spikes to get faster in competition. Wasn’t that using technology to increase speed? The point is if technology is offered, most people will use it.

  5. Go away and do the research about these things before making videos. I agree with you, it’s not fair. But the tests and data are out there on the exact difference it makes (it’s not 5mins for a marathon but it can be significant). Some of the other points you missed, which is all out there to find, is that shoes like the boost give about 2% increase in economy and adidas and other brands have experimented with carbon plates with haile and the likes years ago. So the older records are slightly unfair compared with the 80’s too. Another bit you didn’t spot anywhere on various web pages is that a lot of the benefit from the 4% is from the foam and not so as much the carbon plate. Personally, I take about 2-3% off peoples times in my head. I don’t hold much regard for any of the records broke in the 4% and think it’s made a joke of the sport. Going to move to mountain running which has a culture at the moment heavily built on fairness and fun. Some races won’t even allow athletes with TUE’s

  6. So is it cheating to use carbon fiber poles for pole vaults? I guess it's cheating since we're not using the traditional bamboo poles. Fucking idiot.

  7. You compared Kipchoge’s 2:04 eligible marathon with the laboratory Monza sub2? Come on. Here is a eligible comparison. Kipchoge ran London 2016 in 2:03:05 NOT WEARING these shoes. 4% of that gives you a 1:58:05 that he should have run with those shoes. Obviously it doesn’t give you 4%. This London 2019 in similar conditions he ran WITH the so called next sub2 or whatever a 2:02:37. That is 0.38%! Not even half percent! And between 2016 and 2019 he made a huge improvement not related to shoes. So actually these shoes gives you nothing but a big hole in your bank account. Simply marketing rubbish

  8. See how the guy's hand goes higher when he releases the Vaporfly; that's because he is applying more force to push it forward when he releases it. Not a very scientific video to base anything on.

  9. The discussion is only really about energy return. Or lack of energy loss rather. So these shoes are the best at that, with 80+ percent or so, maybe even close to 90, because of whatever material is in the midsole. Standard EVA comes in at 50-60 percent. And the second best technology to my knowledge at the moment is adidas boost with close to 80 percent. What did you say you run in?… So you might as well throw out your boost shoes because the technology (!) in them gives you an unfair advantage over those running in EVA shoes.

These nikes don't create energy, they just limit energy loss better than other shoes at the moment. So banning them would be in principal the same as banning spikes or pacers you can draft behind or even boost.

  10. So then based on your logic, we should all be either running barefoot or in the original adidas or Nike whatever leather shoes from the 1970s or maybe some generic converse. Why is it ok for someone to wear traditional racing flats while I’m racing in a pair of brooks ghost or 2005 Pegasus that weigh twice as much.

  11. Yeah I used to think the same but things change over time. It's just another technology breakthrough, one of the things we can consider when comparing marathons from now to the past, those long run conversations where we say "yeah but it was on an old track" or whatever. Lets not forget the Adidas and Saucony guys keeping up with Nikes pros, the shoe is good but not game breaking. I personally dont have the shoe because I dont want to give it credit instead of me, but I have nothing against them.

  12. Eliud Kipchoge ran 2:00:25 in a controlled experiment with many other factors to make him go faster. His official PR is 2:01.39. See what you mean about the shoe though, I agree it is making a difference but you’re over exaggerating it a little, I don’t think it’s actually a 4% difference
